How to line up a thermostat?

I have a 1998 Chevy 1500 4x4 4.3 engine. My temp wasn't coming up to where the chevy trucks normally go to. So I changed the thermostat and the one thing I herd was to make sure that the thermostat lines up right. How do I line it up right when I put it back in????
How to line up a thermostat?
Let me tell you the easiest way to line up a thermastat. Some cars have thermastats that have a lip and the housing has a groove so the thermastat will only fit on in one postition. If you were blessed with one of those cars you could take the time look at how you take it off or you can do it the easy way. The easiest way to do it is by looking at the jiggle valve on the thermastat. The juggle valve is a flemsy piece of metal on the lip of the thermastat that jiggles around. When you put your thermastat in the car make sure that jiggle valve is vertical. Wat the jiggle valve does is when the thermastat is closed it lets any surplus coolant on through back to the radiator. Hope this helps

When they say %26quot;lines up%26quot; they mean its right side up and it fits correctly. be sure to use a little Permatex Ultra grey on both sides of your new gasket and bleed the cooling system.
When you take the old thermostat out, pay special attention to which direction the spring faces. In towards the engine or up towards the hose.

That simple.

Make sure that when you change your thermostat out that you scrape and clean off any excess gasket material and go back on with a new gasket with some permetex light covering on each side of the gasket. This will ensure sealing and no leaks.
